About GZRRC

The Greens Zoological Rescue and Rehabilitation Centre (GZRRC) was established in 2019 as a Rescue and rehabilitation centre, recognised by CZA under Wild Life (Protection) Act,1972. GZRRC provides naturalistic enclosures complemented by welfare-focused captive-animal management programs that meet the unique requirements of rescued, injured, and orphaned animals. We operate world's largest multi-speciality wildlife hospital, equipped with advanced medical facilities. Beyond rescue, GZRRC drives conservation through scientific breeding and the reintroduction of extinct-in-the-wild and endangered species. We work towards public awareness, linking wildlife conservation to ecological sustainability.

Our Vision and Mission

Vision

To garner a global reverence for nature, while conserving biodiversity by strengthening ex-situ in-situ linkages.
For the establishment of the Greens Zoological, Rescue and Rehabilitation Centre, the following vision has been outlined:

  • The Greens Zoological, Rescue and Rehabilitation Centre aims at making the facility to International standards following the modern trend of design as open, naturalistic, and eco-friendly zoo. It is particularly devoted to the cause of sick, injured and at risk animals that are held in various forms of captivity in India and across the globe. It strives to create state of the art rescue centres for animals in need. No activity is undertaken by the Greens Zoological, Rescue and Rehabilitation Centre that disturbs the natural landscape of the area. The design of animal enclosures and the support infrastructure would be such that they can merge fully in the environment of the Greens Zoological, Rescue and Rehabilitation Centre.
  • The Greens Zoological, Rescue and Rehabilitation Centre houses only such species, which can be provided quality life of adequate longevity in respect of those housed for conservation breeding programs so that they can breed and lead to self- sustaining and genetically and behaviourally viable population at the zoo.
  • The Greens Zoological, Rescue and Rehabilitation Centre shall maintain highest standards of educative signage and interpretation facilities at the animal enclosures to enable the visitors in having a rewarding experience at the zoo.
  • Greens Zoological, Rescue and Rehabilitation Centre shall endeavour to maintain and enhance the naturalistic and aesthetic value of the area.

Mission

The Greens Zoological, Rescue and Rehabilitation Centre is committed to saving species conservation by combining our expertise in animal healthcare and conservation science with our dedication in inspiring passion for nature through best management practices, education and awareness among people.

    Enhancing Wildlife Care and Conservation

    Biodiversity Conservation and Scientific Research

Dedicated to strengthening national conservation efforts, GZRRC focuses on species conservation through scientific research. Animal biology, behaviour, and healthcare data are systematically collected to enhance conservation strategies. These insights support wildlife management across regional and international scales, ensuring informed decision-making for species survival.

    Conservation Breeding and Habitat Restoration

We implement long-term conservation breeding programs approved in principle by CZA for endangered and extinct-in-the-wild species, like the Spix’s Macaw, with the aim to create insurance population that can be successfully reintroduced to restored habitats in situ. Simultaneously, our efforts are directed toward habitat preservation, ensuring that reintroduced species have suitable environments. We identify optimal repatriation sites and work with regional partners on habitat restoration to support long-term species sustainability.

    Animal Hospital

    Wildlife Rescue and Rehabilitation

As a recognised rescue and rehabilitation centre, we specialise in emergency care and rehabilitation for orphaned, injured, and seized wildlife. Immediate treatment is provided to return animals to their natural habitat. For non-releasable individuals, lifetime care is ensured within a secure, open and naturalistic environment.

    Animal Hospital

    Veterinary and Disease Management

GZRRC has constructed a multi-specialty wildlife hospital where we provide advanced medical care, including specialised / advanced OTs & ICU units with minimal invasive surgical technology/ devices, diagnostic imaging laboratory . The veterinary team conducts continuous health monitoring, disease surveillance, and emergency interventions, ensuring the well-being of all resident species. Preventative healthcare strategies, including advanced quarantine facilities, are integrated to mitigate disease risks.

    Public Awareness and Community Engagement

We nurture conservation awareness through learning experiences that invite communities to participate in restoring ecological balance. By gaining an understanding of the animal in the wild, people see why protecting biodiversity is essential to the environment and sustainability. Our efforts work with local communities to encourage coexistence, shared responsibility, and practices that support a planet for every life
